wood polymer composites (wpc) were prepared by using recycled wood particle and biodegradable poly (butylene succinate) (pbs). various surface modification methods including esterification, alkali-treatment, cyanoethylation were used to increase the interfacial adhesive strength between the wood particle and pbs. we investigated the effects of modification method and wood particle content on the interfacial behavior and the mechanical property. each modified wood particles were studied to x-confirm the change of chemical structure by ft-ir. sem was used m investigate the interfacial adhesive properties of blends prepared by twin-extruder. utm was used to measure the tensile and flexural strength. in the case of esterification, it was shown that the decrease of tensile strength was lower than that of other surface treatment methods. in addition, wpc with 20wt % wood particle showed the highest flexural strength.
