Customer-friendly payment system for trademark renewal fees
On July 28, 2010, we introduced a simplified process for renewing trademark registrations by allowing customers to renew their registration for ten years simply by submitting an application. The new system helps reduce renewal fees and agent fees. Previously, renewal fees were limited to lump sum payments, but now customers can pay by installments every five years. Customers that have difficulty paying the registration fees all at once can pay the fees in two installments. In addition, if the customer decides to end the use of their trademarks after five years, they no longer have to pay the second installment. These changes were designed to ease the financial burden of customers.
